I Scream, For Making Pots.

This week my class is about ice cream. ice cream bowls, ice cream sculptures, and tomorrow.... AN ICE CREAM PARTY.. the kids are truly great. I can not even imagine learning and really throwing at a young age. When I was 20 I took my first wheel class and struggled for weeks, trying EVERY day to make something that resembled a round wheel-made object. Some of them have really amazed me, some have made me laugh, and some have really started to challenge my capacity and skills in this new role where i get to serve as an instructor. In four days I have begun to understand and become aware of the myself and my realtionship the community here. and on top of everything my co-workers are good people, and i've got a studio back. things are settling and life feels good.

i had this epiphany at camp today. decaled ceramic ice cream cones. i like it and im totally doing it. (as you can see above, it has already been done- but what hasn't)

the thing is.

It's hard to know what to do. Where to go, and who to become. What to accept, what to stand against. When do you push? reach, stretch, move, advance or decide to change things that make you you. In earnest I am not without doubts. But i have to believe that what im doing is worhtwhile, important, and the right thing for me right now. The only way to really know is to really let it go.

As you can see, this is Minnesota. The dots with the buildings are the twin cities and the one on the left is Minneapolis(and me). Here I will spend my time from june to the end of august working as a teaching assistant at northern clay center. Starting on the 21st of June the clay center runs half day-week long kids courses through their summer camp program. Each week I will be involved in a different class working with a new topic and helping out a completely new group of kids. Pretty great. I've also got my own class time set up to continue my practice and develope on my most recent interests in the studio. Tomorrow it is.

Let us take these first steps with confidence and purpose because now, we make it happen
